Legacy Privacy Policy
Reading Racer no longer collects any data. This privacy policy is only applicable if you have played Reading Racer prior to December 18th, 2023.

This privacy policy is designed to inform you about the type of information that we may gather or collect from you in connection with your use of our site and app. It also explains the conditions under which we use and disclose that information, and your rights in relation to that information.
1. Types of Information We Collect
We collect both personal information and anonymous information. We may combine personal information and anonymous information to create aggregate information. We collect the following categories of information:

Registration information you provide when you create an account, such as parents’ email address, and children’s age, birth date, gender, avatar, username, and gender.

Information you provide when you contact us to ask a question whether on our site or through our app, or that you may provide us as part of ongoing feedback and survey responses about the game experience, or in obtaining technical support.

Information you choose to provide to us when you are playing a game on the app such as a recording of your voice reading text in the app, your name, age, gender, and email address.

Information you choose to share with others when you are playing a game with them on the app in competition mode such as your user code, and the results of your game.

Session information we collect automatically when you play a game on the app such as the number of words you read per minute, the stories you read, and the number of games you play.

Usage, viewing and technical information such as your IP address, device identifier, operating system, browser type, the web pages or apps you review before or after reviewing our app or site,the frequency with which you visit various parts of our site and app, when you visit our app or site, use our app on third party platforms, or open emails we send.
2. How We Collect Your Information

We collect information you provide to us when you request or use our products and services, register with us, use the games or other activities on our apps, use our site, respond to surveys, games, sweepstakes, contests of skill or otherwise interact with us. For example, when you register via the app, you will create a user account. Your account will contain personal information that you submit to us during the registration process. Please note: you may delete or modify personal information from your profile at any time by clicking on the settings icon. A set of options will pop up. Next to the privacy option, there is a toggle switch which permits you to indicate whether you do or do not want your data to be collected and stored by us in the future. If you move this switch to no, we will no longer collect your personal information going forward. To remove any previously stored information, please contact us by e-mail at info@readingracer.com, or by US postal mail at Seashells Education Software, Inc., 66 Bovet Road, Suite 380, San Mateo CA 94402, and request removal of past data. A valid request to delete personal information will be accommodated within a reasonable time.

We collect information via cookies such as the pages you visit each time you use the site or app. Please note: if you do not wish to have cookies placed on your computer or mobile device, you should set your browser to refuse cookies before accessing the site or app, with the understanding that certain features of the site or app may not function properly without the aid of cookies. If you refuse cookies, you assume all responsibility for any resulting loss of functionality.

We collect information via web beacons. We may place web beacons on website pages, emails or pages of the app, and we collect information from them such as whether you have viewed a particular web page or email communication. Please note: you may not decline Web Beacons. However, they may be rendered ineffective by declining all cookies or modifying your browser setting to notify you each time a cookie is tendered and permit you to accept or decline cookies on an individual basis.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:

4. Sharing your Information With Other Companies
We do not share your personal information with other companies without your prior consent except in the following circumstances. Other companies are under no obligation to comply with this privacy policy with respect to personal information that you provide directly to them, personal information that we provide to them or that they collect for themselves.

When you direct us to share your personal information with others, such as when you elect to play a game on the app in competitive mode with other players.

When you elect to participate in a survey, contest, sweepstakes or game of skill, we may disclose your personal information to third parties who sponsor or who help us run and administer the survey, contest, sweepstakes or game of skill.

We disclose information to our employees, contractors, affiliates, distributors, dealers, vendors and suppliers who process information on our behalf, participate with us in operating the site or app, making the site or app available to you, or providing you with services.

We may provide your personal information to third parties so they can send you marketing materials that may be of interest to you. If you want to opt-out of receiving these third party marketing materials, please follow the instructions at the bottom of each email.

We believe in our sole discretion that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect against fraud, to protect the property or other rights of us or other users, third parties or the public at large.

We believe that you have abused our products or service by using them to attack other systems or to gain unauthorized access to any other system, to engage in spamming or otherwise to violate the law.

We may transfer all information (including personal information) to a successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy or other sale of all or a portion of our assets. Other than to the extent ordered by a bankruptcy or other court, the use and disclosure of all transferred personal information will be subject to this policy, or to a new privacy policy if you are given notice of that new privacy policy and you affirmatively opt-in to accept it. Personal information submitted or collected after a transfer, however, may be subject to a new privacy policy adopted by the successor entity.
If you choose to provide personal information to us via our site or app, we will provide your personal information to our third party data storage provider (currently Amazon Web Services “AWS”) which assists us in making the site and app available to you. AWS is not subject to this privacy policy. AWS’s privacy policy will apply to AWS’s collection, use and disclosure of your personal information. 5. Online Tracking.
We currently do not process or comply with any web browser’s “do not track” signal or other similar mechanism that indicates a request to disable online tracking of individual users who visit our site or use our services.
6. Children’s Privacy
When we collect personal information from children, we take additional steps to protect their personal information, including:

Notifying parents of our information practices with respect to children, including the types of personal information we collect, how we use that information and whether and with whom we share that information.

7. Data Security, Integrity and Retention
The security of your information is extremely important to us. We have implemented technical, administrative and physical security measures that are designed to protect your information from unauthorized access. Please be aware, though, that despite our efforts, no security measures are impenetrable. We will retain your personal information for the length of time needed to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
8. Changes to this Privacy Policy
Because of changes in technology, industry practices, regulatory requirements and the growth and development of our business, or for other business reasons, we may need to modify this privacy policy from time to time. We will alert you by email if this policy is revised (if you have given us your email address), and we will post a copy of the new policy with its effective date on our site and app. Where required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent to material changes to the privacy policy. It is therefore important that you register with the site or app and notify us if you change your email address. If you do not provide us with a current email address, you should regularly review this policy to ensure that you are informed of any changes.

Aggregate Information. Aggregate information means information about groups or categories of users that do not personally identify, and cannot reasonably be used to identify, an individual user.
Anonymous Information. Anonymous information means information that does not directly or indirectly identify, and cannot reasonably be used to identify, an individual user.
App. App means Seashells Education Software, Inc.’s Reading Racer application that may be displayed on various online, mobile or other platforms and environments, including those operated by third parties.
Children. Children means individuals who are under 13.
Cookie. A cookie is a string of information that we store on your computer or other device, and your browser provides to us, each time you submit a query to the site or app.
IP Address. An IP address is the address associated with the access point through which you enter the Internet. We do not control your IP address. It is typically controlled by your Internet Service Provider.

Parents. Parents means a parent or legal guardian of a child.
Personal Information. Personal information means information that identifies (either directly or indirectly) an individual person, including name, address, email address and telephone number.
